“For all that has been, THANKS! For all that is to be, YES!”
This marvellous prayer is very appropriate as we stand on the threshold of another year.
It was written by Dag Hammarskjöld, a Swedish diplomat and the second Secretary General of the United Nations, who died at the age of 56 in an airplane crash as he travelled to a warring region of Africa.
Brother Jonathan Maury of the Society of St John the Evangelist, an American monastic community in the Anglican Communion, has written an inspiring reflection on Hammarskjöld’s words.
