What Is Cursillo?
Cursillo is a Spanish word that means “little course”, and that’s exactly what happens on a Cursillo weekend. Participants meet in a retreat house for a period of 4 days (Thursday to Sunday) to take part in a “little course in Christianity”. The courses are offered as a series of short talks given by people who have previously taken part in another Cursillo weekend.
But Cursillo is more than simply a weekend. The weekend and follow-up gatherings help us to come to a deeper understanding of what it means to live our lives as Christians. It provides a community to help us live out that understanding. It inspires and encourages us to transform our family, neighbourhood, parish, and working environments into Christian communities.
