Dear Fathers, Greetings in Christ Jesus our Lord!
The Catholic Bishops of Canada (CCCB) announced on January 28, 2022, that they were committed to raising thirty-million-dollars over a five-year period (2022 – 2027). This major fund-raising effort will be known as the Indigenous Reconciliation Campaign Fund. Each diocese of Canada is expected to participate.
Our diocese will designate the first Sunday of November (over the next five years), as the Sunday when a collection will be taken up throughout the diocese. This will give the people of our diocese the opportunity to contribute to this worthy cause. All monies raised will go to a central fund managed by the CCCB.
For this year only, (2022) the diocese has printed envelopes for the above-mentioned collection that may be picked up at the Catholic Centre. For the remaining four years, each parish will need to print off their own envelopes and/or have them as part of their regular Sunday envelope package (box).
