Sunday Worship for 50 June 27/28

June 29, 2020

The 13th Sunday of Ordinary Time was the first occasion for many of our parishes to hold a public Sunday Mass.

Registration Book, Individual Single Use Short Pencils, Hand Sanitizer and Wipes

The gatherings were limited to 50 people total. Assuring proper distance between all who attended.

Pews were cordoned off so that there would be two empty benches in front of every occupied pew. Song books, missals and other materials were removed. No congregational singing for a while.

St. James Church in Summerfield has plenty of room for 50 people.

Because we are not able to “Pass the Collection Basket” along the rows as usual other collection boxes had to be assembled.

A tabernacle from a closed church makes a fine Donation Box. (Thank You Carpenters)

The attendance at the first weekend Masses were light in Kensington and Summerfield (less than 30). I heard there were 35 at one Mass in Cornwall and 44 at a Mass in Seven Mile Bay. Attendance will level as the summer moves on. Facebook Live Masses will continue in many of our parishes untill the churches are fully reopened.

Be sure to check with your local parish because the usual schedules may have been changed for this stage of PEI Recovery.
