To the Faithful of the Diocese of Charlottetown
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Lent is a time of grace, calling us to renewal through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. This year, our Lenten journey is deepened and enriched by the Jubilee Year, a special time of grace, forgiveness of sins, and a call to reconciliation and charity. Inspired by the theme of the Jubilee year to be “pilgrims of hope,” Pope Francis reminds us that “hope should be granted to the billions of the poor” and that the world’s resources “are not destined for a privileged few but for everyone” (Spes Non Confundit, 15-16).
In this spirit, a couple of weeks ago, we joined Caritas Internationalis in the “Turn Debt into Hope” campaign, advocating for the cancellation of unjust debts that keep vulnerable nations in poverty.
At this time, I encourage you to give generously to Development and Peace—Caritas Canada and the Latin American Mission Program (LAMP), two organizations our diocese supports in reaching those most in need.
Your prayers and contributions to these important charities during this Lenten season reflect our faith and our desire to help our brothers and sisters in need.
I am grateful for your ongoing support and for the many ways you contribute to your parish and wider community.
Recalling the words of the prophet Micah, let’s embrace this sacred time and respond to “what God asks of you; to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8).
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Joseph Dabrowski, CSMA
Bishop of Charlottetown
