Sister Bernice Smith Enters Retirement

November 5, 2020

At the end of this summer, Sister Bernice Smith csm moved away from Lennox Island after over thirty years of service to the people of St. Anne’s Parish and Lennox Island.

Over those years, Sister Smith taught in the island’s school and offered her services at the parish – but she also became a part of many families.  She was there for their baptisms, she was there for community celebrations, she was there for their marriages, and she was there to see them to the grave – she was a great part of that community and that parish church, and her presence on the island and at church is greatly missed.

At the beginning of September, Sister Smith moved into a sort of retirement phase from this parish work as she moved back to the Mother House of her religious community, the Sisters of Saint Martha.

There she has new responsibilities to keep her busy, and new people with whom to share her joyful and generous spirit.

We want to thank Sister Smith for all that she has done over those great many years of service, and we want to thank the Sisters of Saint Martha as well for their dedication to the people of Lennox Island and St. Anne’s Parish.
