Development and Peace — Caritas Canada warmly welcomes Pope Francis, who is arriving in Canada this Sunday for a five-day pastoral visit to dialogue with Indigenous peoples regarding the Catholic Church’s role in the residential school system and to express his heartfelt closeness. To mark the occasion, our president, Brenda Arakaza, and our executive director, Carl Hétu, have prepared this message regarding our work over the decades to support Indigenous peoples in the Global South and to advance reconciliation in Canada, which is one of our priorities for the next five years.
