As of Monday, April 11, the general dispensation from the Sunday obligation will come to an end. Of course, we still request people to stay home if they are sick and remind everyone that “no one is bound to do the impossible.” We would also like to remind the faithful that their pastor can dispense them from the Sunday obligation or substitute it with another pious act (such as praying with scripture) for a just cause. Please call your local pastor for individual guidance. This dispensation or substitution can be granted for as long as the cause continues. The purpose of the Sunday obligation is to respect the importance of celebrating the Lord’s day in prayer.

Sisters of St. Martha Centennial Award, funded by the St. Dunstan’s University (SDU) Board of Governors, was established in 2016 in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the foundation of the Sisters of St. Martha. The scholarship also recognizes the contribution the Sisters made to SDU. It will be awarded annually to a third or fourth year Prince Edward Island female student in a post-secondary institution who is pursuing studies in the field of ecology, ethics, theology, education, healthcare and social work areas will be considered. The scholarship is valued at $2,016.00 per year and is non-renewable.
