Applications are now being accepted at the Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island (CFPEI) for The St. Andrew’s Society Scholarships ($50,000 in total scholarships available). Donations to help the victims of the August 14 earthquake in Haiti can be made to Development and Peace head office in Montreal: 514-257-8711 or toll free at 1-888-234-8533. There is an enormous need for food, water, shelter, clothing, blankets, first aid supplies, hygiene kits, vehicles and fuel. Development and Peace partners, CARITAS Haiti and the Institut de Technologies et d’Animation (ITECA), are very busy with relief and coordinating efforts under Haiti’s National Risk Management Plan. On the bright side, in the small commune of Cavaillon, 13 of the 14 houses Development Peace built after the 2010 earthquake have withstood the current earthquake.  For further information call the Diocesan Council of Development and Peace, 902-969-2693.
