In order to celebrate his tenth anniversary of ordination to the priesthood Fr. Raju Chebattina, Associate Pastor in Souris, celebrated with the people of his home village and parish in India.
Firstly, he donated a Grotto in honour of Our Lady of Fatima to his home village on Saturday, January 13th.
He was assisted in the blessing and dedication of the Grotto by Very Reverend Eric J. Dunn, Vicar General of the Diocese of Charlottetown.
The celebration of the Eucharist followed with some forty priests con-celebrating and a congregation of two thousand grateful parishioners.
On the following Monday another Eucharistic Celebration took place at the Parish School where 1000 Students were given back packs by Father Raju and all were fed a typical rice dinner and ice cream.
The Knights of Columbus, Souris Council organized a fundraising campaign. Over a two week period in December the parishioners of St. Mary’s, St. Columba, St. Charles and St. Margaret’s parishes raised $21,000 to provide Back Packs and Red and White School Uniforms to the children The people from these four parishes are to be commended for their generosity.
Father Raju is to be commended for his generosity in giving back to his parish on the occasion of his Tenth Anniversary Of Ordination to the Priesthood.
