Dear Reverend Fathers and People of the Diocese of Charlottetown,
It is with profound sadness that I write to you regarding one of our priests.
On October 31st a priest of the diocese was arrested and will be facing charges of sexual exploitation and sexual assault. He has since “been released from custody pending a court date in December” (Summerside Police press release).
The Summerside Police in releasing a press statement did not name the priest. Consequently, the diocese at this time will not release the name of the accused priest.
Fr. Chris Sherren has been designated as the spokesperson for the diocese regarding this matter. He will be the contact person for the media, press and all related inquiries.
I implore your prayers for the victim, the priest against whom charges have been brought, and all who are affected in any way.
