Rosary Pilgrimage for the Jubilee Year

June 7, 2025

The Rosary Pilgrimage of Hope took place on Saturday, May 31, 2025 all across PEI hosted by the PEI CWL and Knights of Columbus. It was part of the event of the Diocesan events for the Ordinary Year of Jubilee: Pilgrims of Hope.

It began at 9:00 am at both ends of the Island – St. Mary’s Parish in Souris and Sacred Heart Parish in Alberton with those gathered praying the Joyful Mysteries using the same scriptural rosary text.  The faithful then journeyed from each end of the Island with two more stops each: St. Joachim’s Parish in Vernon River and St. Pius X in Charlottetown on the Eastern route, and St. Paul’s Parish in Summerside, and St. Mary’s-Holy Family Parish in Kensington on the Western route. At each stop along the way, new pilgrims joined the journey.

All of the pilgrims met at St Francis of Assisi Parish in Cornwall for the final Rosary and Mass, that was celebrated by His Excellency, Bishop Joseph Dabrowski and concelebrated by Fr Peter Wojakiewicz, CSMA, Fr. Jim Wilick, and Fr. Francis Sohe, SDV. Mass was followed by reception in the parish hall.

Along the way, pilgrims were invited to write their intentions for the pilgrimage in a Book of Intentions. These books were presented to Bishop Joseph during Mass, and he will bring them with him during the Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome.

Attendance at each stop ranged from 50 to over 200 pilgrims, with a full church for Mass and reception. The day was a wonderful opportunity for communal prayer, with pilgrims sharing that they felt the presence of Our Blessed Mother. There were also opportunities to socialize with new and old friends.

Thank you to all who volunteered and participated to make this event such a success.  May Our Lady continue to be close to each of you.  If you would like to learn about upcoming Jubilee events, visit our Diocesan Jubilee Page.
