Fr. Frank Jay Gets a Second Cake

August 11, 2024

One of the many benefits of being a pastor in multiple parishes is that there are multiple celebrations of ordination anniversaries. Ordained on May 25, 1984 the 40th Anniversary was celebrated in St. Mary’s Holy Family Church in Kensington with great joy and a great cake.

This Sunday, August 11, the 40th Year and 81 Days Anniversary was celebrated in St. James’ Parish, Summerfield in connection with the annual outdoor cemetery Mass.

A Blessed Day as the People Assemble for Mass

The weather was beautiful on the hill where there are commanding views for the land from Summerside to Kinkora and beyond.

There was a great assembly of parishioners, family and friends and all were; as Jesus said in today’s Gospel “Drawn by the Father”.

Just a Small Portion of the Faithful

After Mass there were plentiful amounts of sandwiches and sweets for everyone.

And of course Fr. Jay cut the cake:

The traditional photo of cleric with Knife cutting cake.
“He who cuts the cake gets to decide what is his proper share.”
(Not a quote from the Bible but it should be.)

A very good time was had by all. And as always we would love to have you at our Outdoor Cemetery Masses in August 2025! (Weather Permitting of Course)

If your parish has a Mass in the Cemetery please send your photos in and they will be shared with the whole diocese.
