Father Charlie Pottie, SJ

“Eucharist and Church in the World: A Spirituality to Live By.” Father Charlie Pottie, SJ is a native of Nova Scotia. A member of the Society of Jesus since 1959, he taught liturgy and sacramental theology at universities in Toronto, Ottawa, Rome, and Halifax. Moreover, he has been a spiritual guide in the Exercises of Saint Ignatius since 1970. At 7 pm on Monday evenings (October 28, November 4, 11, 18, 25) Father Charlie will host Zoom sessions on “Eucharist and Church in the World: A Spirituality to Live By.” Suggested Fee: $25. Rehearsals for the Basilica Christmas Concert begin Wednesday October 16 in the SDU building across from the Basilica and run from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. All choristers are welcome!   Featured works this year are John Rutter’s “Gloria” and the contemporary cantata “The Wonders of His Love”. The concert is scheduled for Tuesday December 17at 7 pm, with a dress rehearsal on Monday December 16.

The Saint Dunstan’s University (SDU) Board of Governors is pleased to offer financial assistance toward the development and implementation of parish and unit pastoral programs and ministries. All parishes and units within the Diocese of Charlottetown are invited to submit proposals. This funding is not for capital projects but is targeted at resources for programs.  Five applications have been approved to date: John Paul II Unit Alpha program, Holy Trinity Unit Good Shepherd program, Good Shepherd Unit youth initiatives, Our Lady of the Assumption drive-by Christmas pageant, Saint Dunstan’s cross-cultural family ministry programs.  For application guidelines and/or for more information, please contact George Morrison, Executive Director at sdu@eastlink.ca.
