United in Song…a multi denominational Christmas concert featuring 8 different church and school choirs, including the Basilica Choir, St. Peter’s Anglican Church Choir, the Legion Choir, the Singing Strings, organist Jason Chen, Emmanuel Christian School, etc. Admission by donation.
SIMBANG GABI (EVENING MASS): You are cordially invited to celebrate Simbang Gabi, a cherished Filipino Advent tradition. Simbang Gabi is a series of novena prayers and Masses over nine days, leading up to Christmas. A time for reflection, prayer, and joyful anticipation of the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Advent Service of Light: Come join us at the Martha Spirituality Centre for an evening of Advent prayer and reflection around the theme of light, at 7 pm on Tuesday, December 19th . We pray for light to permeate our hearts, engender reconciliation, and to heal the earth. All are welcome. Donations are accepted for the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry. Friday December 22 at 7 pm, St. Dunstan’s Basilica…A Global Christmas Celebration…The return of the Christmas spectacular at the Basilica featuring ~50 singers from all denominations accompanied by a 30-piece orchestra in a special program celebrating the cultural diversity on our Island with a collection of international carols, many sung in their original language, including the premiere of a new piece in Mi’kmaq by composer/music director Leo Marchildon. Also on the program is Fantasia Noel, a cantata which provides a contemporary spin on classic carols. The traditional highlight of the evening is the singing of Silent Night by candlelight. This concert has been designed as a gift to the city of Charlottetown, and due to the popularity of this event, early arrival is recommended in order to get a good seat. Admission by donation.
