In 563 the Irish monk, Columba, established a monastic settlement on the tiny Hebridean island of Iona, which became a major centre of early European Christianity.
A Benedictine abbey, established in Iona in the Middle Ages, continued to attract many thousands of people on their own pilgrim journeys.
The Iona Community is an ecumenical Christian community of people from different walks of life and different traditions.
They engage with people of goodwill across the world, in acting, reflecting and praying for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
All are welcome to participate online in daily Morning Prayer at Iona Abbey.
