A warm welcome to our newest Priest

January 22, 2026

We would like to welcome Fr. Martins Meshor, SDV, who is now serving as Associate Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Souris; St. Columba Parish, Fairfield; St, Margaret’s Parish, St. Margaret’s; and St. Charles Parish, St. Charles.

We recently asked Fr. Martins to share a little bit about himself so that the Catholics of PEI would be able to know him better. Some of the questions we asked were where he grew up; something about how he became a priest; what his favorite hobby is; what his favorite book is and why; and who his favourite saint is and why. Here, in his own words, are his answers.

I am Fr. Martins Meshor, SDV.  An SDV priest refers to a Catholic priest who belongs to the Society of Divine Vocations, also known as the Vocationists. This religious order was founded by Saint Justin M. Russolillo, and the religious order focuses on discovering, forming, and promoting priestly and religious vocations.

I was born on January 30, 1992, in Ikoyi, Lagos. I grew up in Oreta, a community in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Growing up in Oreta was fun. I enjoyed being part of a local community where everyone knows everyone. One of my favorite memories is that we would often go fishing after school.

My priesthood journey began in 2013 with an Aspirancy period. During my later formation years to the priesthood, I was inspired by Fr. Patrick Akune, O.P. An O.P. priest refers to a priest in the Order of Preachers, the formal name for the Dominican Order, a Catholic religious community focused on preaching and teaching. I found Fr. Patrick inspiring because he was always available for spiritual direction in my challenging moments. I was ordained a priest in 2023.

I am presently on mission in the Diocese of Charlottetown and serving as Associate Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Souris; St. Columba Parish, Fairfield; St, Margaret’s Parish, St. Margaret’s; and St. Charles Parish, St. Charles.

My hobbies are soccer and checkers. Soccer was special to me because I saw it as a game of teamwork and fun. I still feel this way today.

My favourite book is 100 Inspiring Anecdotes from “Change Yourself and Change the World” by Bishop Percival Fernandez. The anecdote that speaks to my heart is seeking and having peace in the storms of life.

My favourite saint is Saint Martin de Porres because of his humility and the great care he gave to the poor.
