The Diocese of Charlottetown is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Riel as the Director of Mission and Pastoral Services.
Dave comes to us from the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth where he was most recently the Faith Formation Coordinator at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
He began his involvement in parish ministry more than twenty-five years ago when he was invited to assist with a confirmation class in his local parish in Waterloo, Ontario. He transitioned from the position of “we just need another adult in the room, you can sit in the corner and not say anything” to leading in youth ministry, religious education, family ministry and sacramental preparation.
He brings his experience on the front lines of parish renewal both in rural and urban parishes and is very excited to be part of building our parish renewal in the Diocese of Charlottetown. He is passionate about the mission and leadership of the local Church, accompanying others growing in their faith, and helping those around him to cultivate and recognize the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given them.
Dave’s wife, Sharon, has been a God given influence on his faith journey for the 33 years they have been married and they are both excited to see what this chapter of God’s plan has in store for their family. He has two adult children and one beautiful grand-daughter, who just turned 9 months old. He is presently engaged in formation for the permanent diaconate.
We look forward to Dave’s participation in implementing our emerging Vision for Pastoral Renewal within our Diocese.
