Sister Sue Kidd, CND, at the University of Prince Edward Island’s Chaplaincy Centre
It is with warm appreciation that our Diocesan Administrator, Rev. James Willick, along with all members of the Diocesan staff, would like to express their gratitude to Sister Sue Kidd, CND, for her many years of dedicated service as the Roman Catholic Campus Minister at the University of Prince Edward Island.
After spending 16 years of service with the Diocese of Charlottetown in ministry at UPEI, Sister Sue has answered the call of being elected as a Councillor and member of the Congregation’s leadership team for the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame on November 1, 2026.
In a release recently shared by her congregation, they said, “Religious life is changing, and Sister Sue is now called upon to support her sisters with the very same gifts she has used to serve the University’s student and professional communities. We would not be surprised to find a Panthers flag on the wall of her office at the Mother House or a UPEI mug on her desk. Beyond the objects themselves, the memories she has of these past few years will also enrich the quality of her community outreach efforts: you have given Sister Sue so much, and we are grateful to you because we are reaping the benefits today. Thank you for the trust that you have placed in her.”
When Sister Sue began her ministry at UPEI, she had two goals in mind, “to help the first-year students through the transition from high school to university and to reach out and build bridges with people of other faiths, as well as to form good relationships with the faculty and staff at the university.” It is very evident that Sister Sue went above and beyond these expectations while also tending to campus outreach, assisting with Catholic worship, coordinating religious retreats, and providing an approachable presence with spiritual guidance. She has been a valued member of the Diocese of Charlottetown, and we are grateful for the care, dedication, and spirit she has brought to her ministry at UPEI. Her presence and service have made a meaningful difference, and she will be sincerely missed.
“I have known Sister Sue for a long time, beginning back when she worked for ‘Vision’, a national religious vocational networking organization. Back then and now continuing with her important role as Campus Minister at UPEI for 16 years, Sister Sue has always put her heart and soul into whatever she gives her yes. Her commitment and her exceptional way of dealing with people has borne much fruit, spiritually and in relationship building, with both students and staff. She will be greatly missed.” Fr. James Willick, Diocesan Administrator, Diocese of Charlottetown.
Events are being planned closer to her departure date with details being shared shortly.
Please join the staff of the Diocese of Charlottetown as we keep Sister Sue in prayer as she undertakes this significant role within her religious community, especially during this time of transition for her and those whom she has been caring for in her role as Campus Minister.
