Inside the conclave, cardinals vote in silence—trusting the Holy Spirit to guide them. Voting continues until a two-thirds majority is reached, signalling unity and divine discernment. After the first day, up to four votes are held each day—two in the morning and two in the afternoon—until the Church has its next pope. As the Church awaits its next shepherd, let us join together in prayer.
O God, eternal shepherd,
who govern your flock with unfailing care,
grant in your boundless fatherly love
a pastor for your Church
who will please you by his holiness
and to us show watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
