Diocesan Administrator Elected

February 6, 2026

Bishop Joseph Dabrowski was installed as the 10th Bishop of Hamilton on February 2, 2026. With this appointment, the office of the Bishop of Charlottetown became vacant.

According to the Code of Canon Law, when the office of the bishop becomes vacant, the College of Consultors, a body of priests appointed by the bishop, elects a Diocesan Administrator to govern the diocese until a new bishop is appointed.

The College of Consultors has recently convened, and it is our pleasure to announce that Reverend James Willick has been elected as the Diocesan Administrator for the Diocese of Charlottetown until the Holy See names a successor to Bishop Joseph. Father Jim will continue to be the Pastor of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Stratford, and St. Joachim’s Parish, Vernon River.

Father Jim is happy to assist with whatever is needed during this time of transition. You may contact him through his Executive Assistant, Sandra Ann Bourque, at sandra@dioceseofcharlottetown.com.

As we prayerfully await Pope Leo XIV to appoint a new Bishop for the Diocese of Charlottetown, let us keep Father Jim in our prayers as he undertakes this new role, and continue to pray for all the priests in our diocese.
