The Jubilee Year is a Holy Year dedicated to the forgiveness of sins, conversion, and joyful celebrations. It is a time of grace because it establishes a “favourable time” (2 Cor. 6:2) for conversion.
We are called to place God at the center of our lives, growing closer to Him, for it is God who sanctifies this year by bestowing His own holiness upon us.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation serves as a powerful expression of the Church’s call to conversion, penance, and spiritual renewal during this special time. It offers us a unique opportunity to experience God’s mercy, deepen our faith, and obtain the spiritual benefits associated with the Jubilee Year, including indulgences.
In light of this, we are pleased to offer a Day of Confessions, during which all priests will be available throughout the day in one or more churches in all pastoral units across our diocese to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a wonderful opportunity to encounter the Lord through His ministers and experience His unconditional love and boundless mercy.
Perhaps it has been some time since you last participated in this sacrament. Nevertheless, the door is always open, and the Lord is waiting to receive and forgive you. As Jesus often reminded us, “Come to me, all who are laboured and overburdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28-29).
The Sacrament of Reconciliation provides a precious opportunity to be set free from the burden of sins that weigh down our mind, heart, and spirit.
We invite you to take advantage of the Day of Confessions, heed the Lord’s invitation and embrace the gift of forgiveness and peace He offers.
