Celebrating the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame – Visitation Province

August 14, 2025

For over 160 years, the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame have been planting seeds of hope on PEI — and they’re still planting those seeds.

Bishop Joseph

On July 13, 2025, Bishop Joseph Dabrowski of the Diocese of Charlottetown celebrated the Eucharist with the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame (CND) – Visitation Province. The liturgy followed their recent Provincial Chapter in Montreal and the election of their new leadership team, led by Sister Rebecca McKenna as Province Leader.

The celebration brought together sisters from several countries, with greetings and parts of the homily offered in English, Spanish, and French. The Chapter theme, “Cultivating Seeds of Hope,” was highlighted by Bishop Dabrowski as a fitting expression for the Jubilee Year of Hope.

In his homily, the bishop recognized the sisters’ remarkable contributions to the diocese since 1864 and to the Universal Church — through education, pastoral care, social outreach, and a steadfast life of prayer. Drawing on the image of Moses, he praised their perseverance and faith, noting their “eyes bright with faith, hope, and love,” even in challenging times.

On behalf of the diocese, Bishop Dabrowski thanked the sisters for the countless seeds of hope they have planted, encouraging them to continue trusting in Christ and the renewing power of the Holy Spirit for the mission ahead.

Merci beaucoup. Muchas gracias. Thank you.
