CCCB Statement on Bill C-218: No “MAiD” for Mental Illness

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops Permanent Council has issued a public statement in support of Private Member’s Bill C-218, which seeks to prevent persons whose sole condition is mental illness from accessing euthanasia (“MAiD”). Bill C-218 is expected to proceed to second reading in the House of Commons in early March 2026.
