Saturday June 22, eight candidates from four parishes on the Island completed the formation for Lay Pastoral Associates (LPAs).

Offered five times since it was initiated by Bishop Fougere in 2004, the program consists of ten monthly sessions over two years introducing topics such as Scripture study, liturgy, sacraments, recent encyclicals, and personal spiritual development. It is held at the St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Centre in Summerside.

Graduates work in areas such as catechetical co-ordination, pastoral visiting, sacramental preparation, grief support and music ministry.
The program is designed to empower the laity and to strengthen and diversify pastoral ministry teams.
