World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, an ecumenical service of music, readings and prayer, is being held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Cornwall on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:00pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Service is being organized by the Liturgical Commission of the Diocese of Charlottetown. A reception will follow.

To qualify you need to attend a 9 session training course on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings between 6:30 and 8:30 pm from 12th September until 11th October at Prince County Hospital. The Summer Organ Recital Series continues with two concerts performed by Montreal organist Olivier Lavoie-Gagné. The first concert takes place at St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish, on Tuesday August 22 at 7 pm; the second is at 1 pm on Wednesday August 23 at St. Dunstan’s Basilica, Charlottetown. Admission is by free-will offering.
D&P Famine Relief Effort for Eastern Africa and Yemen: Between March 17th and June 30th, Canadians rallied to donate $2.5 Million to Development and Peace, of which 1.3 M is eligible for matching funds from the Government of Canada’s Famine Relief. Thus, thanks to D&P donors, a total of $3.8 million will be put towards relief efforts in Africa and Yemen.
Donations made directly to Development and Peace are currently being sent to its on-the-ground partners Caritas South Sudan, Caritas Nigeria, Trocaire in Somalia and CAFOD in Yemen to supplement the emergency aid, such as food, water, sanitation services and medical care, which they have been delivering since February.
Our own diocesan contribution to this important cause was $43,658.85, thanks to many generous parishioners.
Palmer Rd Picnic-Aug 20: Join us at Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road on Sunday, Aug 20 for our annual picnic. This year our church is celebrating 125 years and we are celebrating with “A grand tea party”. The day which begins with an outdoor mass at 11 am, includes lobster/ham dinners, live outdoor music, tours of the church and rectory, food & game booths, horse rides, cake auction, bingo, flea market and much more.

Choristers are invited to join the Diocesan choir in providing music for a special ecumenical service at St. Francis Church, Cornwall celebrating the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on Friday September 1 at 7 pm. A single rehearsal will be held on Thursday August 31, 7 – 8:30 pm at St. Francis under the direction of Leo Marchildon.
