On February 24-25, 2025, priests together with Bishop Joseph gathered at Our Lady of Hope Retreat Center for their Annual Study Days.
On Tuesday morning, the priests began the day with morning prayer and a Mass offered for the intentions of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, particularly praying for his return to good health.
This year, the theme focused on Pastoral approaches in End-of-Life Care, addressing vital topics such as palliative care, accompanying people in times of sickness and suffering, and exploring the pastoral implications and sacramental ministry to the sick and dying, in the light of MAiD.
Our keynote speaker, was Sister Rosemary MacDonald, PhD, who is a member of the sisters of St. Martha of Prince Edward Island. With a career spanning various roles, including Nursing Supervisor, Administrator, Nursing Professor, and Clinical Ethicist, Sister Rosemary provided invaluable insights. Bishop Joseph engaged the priests in reflections on the pastoral implications of these pressing realities.
Charlene Peterson, a member of our Diocesan team, extended her support to the workshop, and, together with Father Chris, provided updates on the Spiritual Renewal listening sessions of the diocese.
