In his message for the 10th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on September 1, 2025, Pope Leo XIV urges the faithful to be “seeds of peace and hope” in a world marked by division and fragility.
Using the biblical image of the seed, he recalls how Jesus compared Himself to a grain of wheat that “must die in order to bear fruit” (cf. John 12:24). From this image, the Pope highlights how new life can emerge even from endings—like seeds breaking through concrete or barren soil.
“In Christ, we too are ‘seeds of peace and hope,’” he affirms, pointing to the vision of a renewed creation where justice and peace thrive.
The Holy Father encourages all to take part in this day, which comes during the Jubilee Year of Hope, as a special opportunity for renewal, peace, and solidarity.
“Together with all Christians, today we celebrate the 10th World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, opening the Season of Creation, which lasts until October 4, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. In the spirit of the Canticle of Brother Sun, let us praise God and renew our commitment not to ruin His gift but to care for our common home.”
