Franciscan Spirituality for the 21st Century

Thursday, February 15th members of the St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity, of the Secular Franciscan Order in Cornwall were the invited presenters on the theme of “Franciscan Spirituality for the 21st Century” for a “Theology on Tap” session held at the Pourhouse in Charlottetown.

Doug Clorey, the current minister of the fraternity, and Dr. Martha Gabriel, current director of formation of the fraternity were part of the presentation team.

The presentation highlighted the personal history of St. Francis and St. Clare, key characteristics of Franciscan Spirituality, and the contribution of Franciscan Spirituality to such efforts as Franciscans International, Protection of the Sacred Sites in the Holy Land, and Pope Francis’ Encyclical “Laudato Si'”.

There were approximately 45 people in attendance and a lively Q&A session followed the presentation.

These sessions are sponsored by the Saint Dunstan’s University  Board (SDU) Institute of Christianity and Culture.
