Development and Peace – Caritas Canada: Fully upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church

April 23, 2018

Bishop Richard received this letter and would like to share it with everyone.

Your Eminences / Your Excellencies,

For your information and possible circulation in your diocese/eparchy, I wish to draw your attention to a statement issued by Mr. Serge Langlois, Executive Director of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace – Caritas Canada.

In English: https://www.devp.org/en/articles/message-executive-director-all-members

In French: https://www.devp.org/fr/articles/message-du-directeur-general-tous-les-membres

The statement provides information about the joint review process currently underway and ensures both cooperation with the Bishops and unequivocal commitment to Catholic moral and social doctrine.

Mr. Langlois states: “If a potential issue is flagged we will do our due diligence to respond and take decisive action to ensure we are upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church in everything we do, from our work in Canada with you, our members and donors, to the vital efforts of our partners in the Global South. We are confident this process will only continue to strengthen our relationship with our partners and our Bishops and make ever more evident the Catholic values central to our mission and vision.”

A meeting to address the results of the preliminary review is foreseen in early May. I will continue to update you on the progress of this file.

Sincerely yours in Jesus with Mary,

Msgr. Frank Leo, Jr. General Secretary
