The Charlottetown Legion Choir, a community-based ensemble under the direction of Travis Boudreau, will perform two concerts of sea-faring songs with special guests the Teachers in Harmony Choir. Familiar and novel tunes of Atlantic Canada as well as traditional sea-themed pieces will be featured.
Expect a mix of rollicking, poignant and soulful songs including some with audience participation. As always, a generous array of food will be provided by choir members at concert end. Performances at Winsloe United Church, Saturday, May 26, and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Charlottetown, Tuesday, May 29, at 7:00pm. Tickets $10 ($8 veterans) cash will be available at the door and from choir members.
The PEI Right to Life (RTL) Association will be holding its annual March for LIFE on Sunday May 27th from 2-4pm. Join us at St Pius X Church on St Peter’s Road, Charlottetown, as we walk to the Coles Building on Richmond St. This year’s national theme is “All IN”. In light of the many changes our country has undergone which threaten the life of all, we ask that you come and be ALL IN for a culture of life! PEI Pops! From Broadway to Hollywood: Sunday June 3, 3 pm at St. Paul’s Church, Prince Street, Charlottetown. Conductor Leo Marchildon transports audiences on a magical carpet ride throughout America with the PEI Pops! as they visit “Oklahoma”, “Chicago” and New York (“West Side Story”). Later in the program they visit the outer limits of the universe with music from Star Trek, Star Wars, E.T., Superman, and much more! Add to this a Salute to the Big Bands, and themes from such Hollywood classics as Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, and the Magnificent Seven, and you have one spectacular afternoon of entertainment! Pilgrimage to Shrines of Italy: Join Fr. Andrew Handrahan on a guided pilgrimage to some of Italy’s holy sites. From November 6-16th, 2018, the pilgrimage will travel to Italy and visit such places as Rome, Vatican City, Assisi, San Giovanni Rotunda, and Montecassino. See the relics of St. Benedict, and the place where St. Michael the Archangel appeared; walk through the Catacombs of Rome, and breath in the air of the picturesque town of St. Francis; experience St. Peter’s basilica in Vatican City, and be present for the Holy Father’s Wednesday audience. The Ottawa Children’s Choir under the direction of Jamie Loback, will perform an hour-long concert at St. Dunstan’s Basilica, Sunday May 20 at 2:30 pm. Admission is by free-will offering and proceeds will support St. Dunstan’s Refugee Committee Fundraising project, Kakuma to Canada. The Choir is celebrating its 60th anniversary with this tour throughout Eastern Canada.
Family Retreats are a great chance to spend quality time with your own and to meet other Catholic families. The Thursday evening thru Sunday Retreats are held at Kolbe Retreat Center in Grand River PEI. The $250 registration fee covers all food and lodging for your whole family. Holy Land Pilgrimage This is your opportunity to see the Holyland. Father Gerard Chaisson, St. Mary’s Parish, Montague and Father Simon Lobo, Saint Benedict Parish, Halifax, are the spiritual leaders on this prayerful Pilgrimage.
