New Bulletin Announcements this Week:
From The Diocesan Office Of Catechetics: Catechetical Sunday will be celebrated nationally on October 1, with the theme “Missionary Disciples in the Vineyard of the Lord”.
Pope Francis exhorts us that: Every Christian is a missionary to the extent that he or she has encountered the love of God in Christ Jesus: we no longer say that we are “disciples” and “missionaries”, but rather that we are always “missionary disciples”. (Evangelii Gaudium, no. 120)
Some statistics from the 2016-2017 catechetical year in the Diocese of Charlottetown:
Total number of Parish Catechetical Coordinators: 42
Total number of volunteer catechists: 376
Total number of children (preschool – grade 9) enrolled in parish catechetical programs: 2,516
As we prepare to begin this new catechetical season, let us give thanks for those people who volunteer their time and energy to support families in the ministry of catechetics.
