Halifax is set to host a Level 1 Formation Course for those desiring to be formed as Catechists with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). The Level 1 training relates to forming children aged 3-6 years in the Faith and is the foundation of further training with CGS. This course will be offered in two parts, the first of which will take place February 5-10, 2019 at St. Agnes Church in Halifax. The second part, Level 1B, will be held April 29-May 4, 2019. All are invited to a Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the restoration of the Sanctuary at St. Paul’s in Sturgeon on Sunday, December 9th, after the 9 AM Mass. A short video will tell the story of parishioners reconstructing the Altar in Larry Condon’s garage, transporting it to the church, and placing it in the Sanctuary all in time for Midnight Mass on December 24th, 1998. Refreshments will be served.
Nativity Exhibition Friday, December 7, from 6 to 9 pm, Saturday, December 8, from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday, December 9, from 12 to 4 pm, in the basement of St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church, come to admire more than 125 nativity scenes with 35 more on sale! From the most realistic to the tiniest! We will have a children’s corner, songs, 50/50 tickets and more! Free admission but donations appreciated.
A Dylan Thomas Christmas Concert: The Charlottetown Legion Choir will combine voices with the Teachers and Friends in Harmony Choir to evoke memories of an old-fashioned Christmas. Familiar songs will be woven together by the words of A Child’s Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas. Over 60 choristers’ voices will be joined by string quartet and soprano saxophone. Two concert dates and places: Saturday, Dec. 8 at Dr. Steel Recital Hall, UPEI, Charlottetown, and Tuesday Dec. 11 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Stratford. Doors open at 7 for 7:30 concert with free parking and wheelchair accessibility. Stay for plentiful food and friendship at concert end. Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 in advance from choir members ($8 for veterans and spouses).
