CEMETERY SUNDAY:  A very special thank you to Holy Redeemer Parish for hosting the Mass and to the Knights of Columbus of the Parish for assisting in various ministries, the volunteers who helped load and unload chairs, and Cemetery staff.  Thank you also to Leo Marchildon and Flora Ann Whitty for providing music and to all who attended and helped with the celebration of the Eucharist.  May God bless all involved in our journey of faith.

Queen Square School’s annual reunion will take place at the Murphy Centre, 200 Richmond Street in Charlottetown on August 17 from 4-7 PM. Food and refreshments available. Former students and teachers are invited to reminisce while meeting and greeting old school chums.

 Annual Bishop Angus Bernard MacEachern Memorial Mass will be celebrated Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Chapel, 3 Km east of Mount Stewart.

Our Lady of the Cape

Come and meet the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Ragusa!  There will be an open house on Sunday, August 19th, 2-4 pm at 403 Granville Street, Summerside.   Sister Margherita, Sister Marian and Sister Juliet invite you to take a tour of their Convent, learn a little of the history of their order, and enjoy a few refreshments.   Everyone is welcome!

Fr. Eddie Cormier

You are all invited to join community and family and participate in a Mass of thanksgiving to mark the 50th anniversary of priesthood of Father Eddie Cormier, Saturday, August 4th at 7:00 pm in the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church. Open House will follow at the Village Musical Acadien, Abram-Village (Note change of venue).Any donations given will be forwarded, half to UNHCR for refugees, and half to Village des Sources l’Étoile-Filante for youth programs.

 

Are you the parent of a young child?   Are you a young adult or retiree seeking a way to serve the Church?  Are you a grandparent desiring a means to pass on the Faith?  Do you have carpentry skills? Do you sew?   We need you!   The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is having a “seed planting” information session Sept. 12 at 7pm in the Knights of Columbus room of St Dunstan’s Basilica.  We invite any and all to “come and see” this Montessori-based approach to teaching the Faith to young children. Chiara Luce Badano

The “Camp Chiara Luce” Catholic girls camp for ages 10-15, will be held this year from 6 PM August 17th until 12:30 PM August 19th, at Camp Kolbe in Grand River. Fr. Bob Coady

Father Bob Coady has written a small book entitled “In The Midst of it All. Ten Essays and Reflections on Life and Faith.”  Topics include Family, Death of the Young, Grief, Suicide, Mercy and other relevant subjects, each accompanied by appropriate scriptural references.  Copies are available for sale through some parish offices in churches where Fr. Bob has served over the past forty two years, including St. Francis, Cornwall; St. Mary’s, Montague; St. Pius X and Holy Redeemer, Charlottetown, and are also available at The Bookmark in the Confederation Court Mall in Charlottetown.

 

Shane & Michael Pendergast

Shane and Michael Pendergast host Traditional Ceilidhs at St Michael’s Hall, Corran Ban, 1231 Route 6, every Monday evening at 7:30, July and August. A wonderful evening’s entertainment for everyone.

 

Owen Connolly

Connolly Estate Bursaries are now available to qualifying university students in their first, second, third or fourth year.   A change in policy means university students can now receive support for a maximum of four years (not two). In addition, college students who are completing a joint program/degree may also qualify during their university studies.   The bursaries are open to full-time university students who are male or female, Roman Catholic, and Irish in heritage. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Apply at www.owenconnollyestate.com before August 31.   Recent bursaries have been in the range of $3,000/year, though they may be lower depending on market returns and the number of applicants.

Holy Land Pilgrimage This is your opportunity to see the Holy Land. Father Gerard Chaisson, former Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Montague and Father Simon Lobo, Saint Benedict Parish, Halifax, are the spiritual leaders on this prayerful Pilgrimage. Knights to Remember Choral Group

Fall Choral Workshop Weekend – St. Francis of Assisi Church in Cornwall and the Knights of Columbus Council #10808 will be hosting a special weekend of choral workshops on the evening of Friday, September 21, and the morning of September 22. Conducting the workshops will be vocal coach Paul Grambo (Elora Festival Singers, London, Ontario), accompanied by Leo Marchildon (St. Dunstan’s Basilica, Charlottetown).   Advance registration is required and is $15 per workshop or $25 for both sessions.

Coro Cantabile of Cape Breton
